As with most Franklin Library publications, it appears that this was never read. In fact, we can't remember ever seeing one that looked like it had been read. Beautiful editions in fine condition. 530 pages. 9 x 6 1/4. 
Frontis sepia-toned sketched portrait of Adams, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. This book won the Pulitzer Prize for autobiography in 1919.

It appears that the first time this book has been opened is when we did so to catalogue it. This will be an enhancement to any library and is also special because of Caldwell's signature. 224 pages. 8 5/8 x 6 1/2. 
Illustrated with dramatic duo tone plates by Harry Schaare. Special message written by the author for this edition. Laid in is the 22 page booklet, "Notes from the Editor." A beautiful edition of Caldwell's classic novel of rural Southern life in the early 1930's. It is somewhat amusing today to read this book and realize that it was the constant subject of book banning over the years. By today's standards, difficult to understand what anyone saw that was so threatening as to cause it to be banned.
