Illustrated with facsimiles and vintage photographs. Dr. Garnier arrived in California in April, 1851. This documentation of his two year's journey was published in Paris in 1854 under the title Voyage Medicale en Californie and exists today in but tow known copies, one in the Huntington Library and the other in the California State Library. A very significant document regarding the practice of medicine in California during the gold rush.
