43 George Du Maurier, TRILBY. A NOVEL.
New York: Harper & Brothers. 1895. First American Edition and Limited to 600 numbered copies of which this is 199. Bound in full mottled-brown leather with gilt emb Light shelf-wear and corners bumped and edges worn. Slight rubbing at head and foot of spine. Except as noted, there are no defects or any evidence of prior ownership. Contents are clean and no foxing. Overall, a very attractive book that is Very Good. 464 pages. 10 1/4 x 7. 
Frontispiece portrait of the author and illustrated with text drawings, most with tissue guards, by the author. Tipped onto a front blank end paper is a two page letter that appears to be from Du Maurier and signed by him. It is addressed to "Dawkins" and is dated Jan. 24, '93. It deals with some lectures Du Maurier was to give. We have compared the writing with items signed by him, and this appears to be the same. It is very distinctive and not easy to read. Also, the printed address on the first sheet is "Hempstead Heath" which was DuMaurier address.

There is also a small sticker with 4 numbers at the top of each front paste down. It appears that it was the former owner's method of cataloging, but thes are NOT ex-library books. The books In Very Good tcondition. They appear to have been on a well-maintained shelf for 100 years and show little signs of wear except for a little edge wear and slight fade of Victor Hugo's name on the paper spine labels. A magnificent addition to any library and scarce to find a complete set and in this condition. 8 3/8 x 5 3/4.
