Hardbound in beige linen-covered boards with brown Fine in an illustrated dust jacket that has light chipping along the top edge with a couple of tiny closed tears and a tiny piece missing, else Near Fine. This book is extremely scarce in the hardcover and particularly singed by Denton.

"After more than five years of research---including a nearly six-month long horseback ride along an old Arkasas-to-California cattle drive trail---Ivan Denton presents the remarkable story of the early cattle trade from the Natural State in a prose style reminiscent of campfire yarns." Denton is one of the pioneering Ozarks woodcarvers whose works have often been compared to Russell and Remington. The book has a chapter about the Mormons and the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
